Playing with Rough Drafting

Back at the drawing board
After drawing multiple sketches of what I believe a better targeting ad looks like, I may be coming to some terms.  Applying a larger sized phone will draw the eye directly to the product on the table.  I shouldn't be distracted by the supporting detail that describes the purpose of the piece, but rather acknowledge right away.  Having the image directly below an accentuated Sprint label should enforce the power of a Sprint 4G network to any person skimming the newspaper interested in a sleek new phone.

Analyzing the Composition of an Ad

1st Rough Set
Here is my first set of rough drafts. At this point, I am figuring what doesn't work with the ads aesthetic composition as far as Sprint convincing the sale of the a cell phone.
The most prominent aspects of the small advertisement should be the Sprint logo and the phone image. The problem with the original is the competition between the text in quote in contrast with the product. Followed by it should be light supportive text to pitch the phone.

Good Ad

The Lenscrafters ad in AAA magazine satisfies its notion of purpose by using a cool color scheme and simple design to descriptively express the product they aim to offer. Featuring a look of content on the models face as she wears her pair of frames is convincing that Lenscrafters motive is to fulfill the needs of each individual prescription. To top off their services, they also include a 30% off coupon and 90-day guarantee to its favored AAA club members.

Bad Ad

The Sprint ad for the HTC EVO 4G is a bad ad in my opinion. It's design is minimal and aspires to get straight to an easy point. As a skeptic of technology, I do not feel convinced that this phone is possibly as good as they deem it to be. I cannot witness its superiority through the lack of information provided in the image. Instead, they use quote of someones opinion to pursue message. iPhone is the leading competitor in phone technology, so in ad I would prefer to see something more challenging to the idea that this phone is worth the purchase.

Class Room Interest

I've attended ECC for 3 years now, and have now reached the completion of units necessary for transfer. I decided to linger along on campus until I reach a rock solid notion for the career path I'd like to put forth. My indecision has put me aback but within the last few months, I've decided that learning to create a website could come in handy as a knowledgeable task of benefit. I hope that by enrolling in Advertisement Design 1, I will gain additional relevant skills in marketing. I realize that everything sprouts from the seed of idea and I've set my goal to nurture and see what grows of it. Education is the first step to success and so I look forward to a semester of progress in the digital world!
